Discover an unrecognizable Jean-Claude Van Damme in Until Death, with Stephen Rea (Interview with the vampire) and Selina Giles (V for vendetta). The story is about the tragic daily life of Anthony Stowe, a cop who, under false pretences, is actually a brutal, bloodthirsty and addicted to drug beast. Completely without martial arts and spectacular action scenes, the most interesting in this movie is the dramatic point of view. The movie put the detective story aside and focus on the main character, perfectly played by Jean-Claude Van Damme who affects a terrifying face : looking drawn, having dark shadows under ones's eyes, face ravaged by the drug. Redemption is the main theme of the movie, those of a man who has sinked into drugs and violence, but also those of Jean-Claude Van Damme who can finally exorcize his own demons unblushingly in a particularly daring scene : we can see Jean-Claude Van Damme taking heroine with the help of a syringe. In fact, Until Death is an unpretentious movie which can't be compared to the best detective movies but which have a careful direction and a beautiful score. Until Death confirms the talent as an actor of Jean-Claude Van Damme.

We won't desist that Jean-Claude Van Damme would make a beautiful Roland of Gilead in the adaptation of the bestseller of Stephen King : The Dark Tower.
